An evening to remember!

An enthusiastic audience generously responded to help our hurting and homeless neighbors, raising over $69,000 in donations and monthly pledges at our November 7th Dinner Fundraiser.

But that’s just the beginning! It continues when you bring others with you on this journey of hope. We invite you to share the KentHOPE video with your friends, community group and church.  Sign up to provide a meal or volunteer.  Photos from the event are available to download HERE!

A special thank you to our Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors listed HERE.

KSD Superintendent Dr. Calvin Watts shared that 200 homeless students were identified in the KSD within the first 10 weeks of this school year.  That number is expected to double by the end of the school year. He challenged us to work together as community leaders to provide services and resources to those in need.

KentHOPE Executive Board Chair Pat Gray thanked staff and volunteers, community groups, businesses and churches, for their support of KentHOPE. She highlighted the success of KentHOPE’s current programs.  224 women have found housing since the Women and Children’s Day Center opened in December 2013. The current 1400 sq. ft. Women and Children’s Day Centeris overcrowded and we have begun pursuing a new location.  A Kent site has been identified to build a 24/7 day center and overnight shelter that will house women and children overnight while they receive case management and resources for housing.

UGM President Jeff Lilley wrapped up the evening by sharing that 57 homeless people have died in King County so far this year. He emphasized the urgency for us to take a stand to help the helpless.

If you would like to support the continued success of the Women and Children’s Day Center, please consider making a one time donation or a monthly gift through this secure link.

Some comments from our fundraiser guests:

“It was difficult to hear how many homeless kids there are in the KSD and how that impacts our community as a whole.”

“I was surprised that the fatality rate among homeless people in King County is growing, and that so many are women.”
