“I feel like there is hope and peace. You guys give your heart and soul to work with us.”  – KentHOPE guest

October 19, 2020 UPDATE: The Mission’s goal is to keep our staff, volunteers and guests safe and healthy. Our plan follows all local and state health guidelines and also incorporates several internal ministry factors.

New guests require both a negative COVID-19 test result and a verifiable quarantine period.

Masks are required for common areas as well as for daily activities like staff-accompanied walks with guests and short off-campus trips. We are vigorously cleaning and disinfecting to reduce the chances of infection or cross contamination.

Volunteers continue to help us reflect God’s love to safely prepare and drop off meals. Our Mission Distribution Center continues to quarantine all donations before redistributing (we only are accepting donations of specific needed items at this time).

Even with all these new procedures, we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and continue share the hope and love only He can offer.

Previous UPDATES

March 25, 2020 UPDATE: KentHOPE staff and guests are working diligently to follow guidelines from the CDC and Health Department.  Our weekly visiting nurse has helped with suggestions that were implemented right away. By strictly following the guidelines, we hope to remain free of COVID-19 and stay open to serve our guests who are a potentially higher community risk.
We are no longer taking new intakes. Guests continue to find housing, so we are currently serving just 16 guests.  Guests are sheltering in place, day and night at KentHOPE to reduce exposure by going to host church locations.
We are following a strict sanitizing schedule, taking temperatures of guests and staff throughout the day, monitoring supplies and researching housing options. If someone does become ill, we have a plan for health care, testing and quarantine placement. Our guests and staff continue to support and encourage each other.
Thanks for your continued support in this time of rapidly changing information and circumstances. We still depend on volunteers to prepare and deliver meals for our staff to serve. Sign up for a meal of your choice on the Volunteer tab. Also check out our Donations of Day-to-Day Needs tab to purchase and drop off (or have Amazon deliver) much needed items. We appreciate your prayers that KentHOPE guests and staff will remain healthy and safe.
