Fundraiser a Success
An enthusiastic audience generously responded to help our hurting and homeless neighbors, raising over $20,000 in donations and monthly pledges at our “Signs of Hope” Spring Brunch on Saturday May 14th. Photos from the event are available to download HERE.
Almost half of the 200 people who attended were new to KentHOPE. We were blessed to hear stories of life change and transformation, including a video made especially for the event of Jennifer, a former KentHOPE guest (watch video HERE). Lisa Candler, Ministries Manager and Day Center Supervisor from Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, shared that 271 women and children have transitioned into housing since the Day Center opened almost 2 ½ years ago, and 124 women have found jobs.
New KentHOPE Board member Lynne Downs shared her experiences of volunteering at KentHOPE and how it has transformed her life. Pastor Jason Bentley of Highpoint Church shared about the church’s experience of providing Christmas gifts for KentHOPE guests. He encouraged other churches to collaborate with KentHOPE to make their ministries more effective.
KentHOPE Executive Board Chair Pat Gray celebrated our church and community volunteers, highlighting the many creative ways groups and individuals have supported KentHOPE in recent months. She also gave an update on the future Women and Children’s Resource Center to be located on property leased from First Presbyterian Church of Kent. (Read FAQs on our website KentHOPE.org)
